" May all beings have happiness and create the causes of happiness.
May they all be free from suffering and from creating the causes of suffering. May they find that noble happiness that can never be tainted by suffering. May they attain universal, impartial compassion, beyond worldly bias towards friends and enemies. "
The most positive thing we can do with our lives is to look after ourselves. Then we will be more effective at everything else! Practices such as yoga and qigong give us the opportunity to do just that. Through regular practice we can start to release stiffness and tension and increase flexibility , strength and stamina. We become healthier and more energetic , and feel looser and lighter.
The benefits are not just physical, they are also psychological. So if you want to improve physical fitness with a system that also helps to calm your mind then a yoga class or qigong class may be a perfect way to start.
If you wish to learn how to integrate mindfulness more fully into daily life then the mindfulness courses on offer are an effective way to begin.
Mindfulness based stress reduction is now recognised by the NHS as a more lasting and effective way to deal with stress , anxiety and depression than prescription drugs. But it is more than that, it is the gateway to living a happier and fuller life for everyone.
